Henin forced to announce second retirement

For a second time,Justin Henin has announced her retirement for the second time from tennis yesterday.

She revealed that in Australia saying that she had suffered further injury to elbow she initial had an injury at Wimbledon last summer. She said she had been advised that the elbow was "too fragile and hurt so that my passion and my profession at high level cannot continue to exist."

While Henin was no.1 in the world ranking she announced her retirement for the first time,then she face on her second comeback after twenty years in Australian Open where she reached in final,but her season was curtailed when she damaged elbow ligaments in a fall at Wimbledon. She returned in the Hopman Cup earlier this month and reached the third round here, losing to Svetlana Kuznetsova. The last win of her career was against Britain's Elena Baltacha.

"The past few weeks there was a little bit more pain every day, but I thought my willpower would prevail. Today, the tests and my doctors are adamant," she said.

Nadal cruises into third round

At the Australian Open 2011,on Thursday,World No. 1 superstar Rafael Nadal was an easy second-round winner.

American Ryan Sweeting was blasted helpless by nine-time major champion Nadal 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 in 1 hour, 42 minutes at Melbourne Park's Rod Laver Arena.The 24-year-old Spaniard swatted seven aces and piled up eight service breaks against the 23-year-old Sweeting.

Rafay Nadal,winner of reigning U.S. Open, Wimbledon and French Open,who captured his lone Aussie Open championship in 2009 by beating Roger Federer in the finale is now planning to break the 42 years old record to win the Grand Slam title consecutively for forth time.. Aussie legend Rod Laver won all four majors, for a true Grand Slam, way back in 1969. Laver also captured all four Slams in the same year in 1962.

Federer fights for his last Grand Slam title

At next week’s Australian Open,Roger Federer the four time champion will defend its Grand Slam title as he sets out to wrestle back the No1 ranking from Rafael Nadal.

The season has been launched by victory by Federer in Qatar Open.Then he moves to Australia where he had trailed his great Spanish rival by a whopping 3 145 ranking points.

Last year was very lucky for Nadal as he creep up to number # 1 spot in and reeled off the French, Wimbledon and US Open crowns, but Federer, the record Major leader with 16, is not prepared to stay at No2 this year.

Nadal has seven titles to defend this year, including his three Grand Slams, to preserve his rankings lead and will be under pressure if Federer can regain his spark.

Agassi backs Nadal for Australian Open

Andre Agassi is supporting Nadal to come good in this year’s Australian Open,currently Nadal is going through flu.

The star unhealthy condition has raised many question in mind of his chances of winning the Australian Open.Despite this, tennis legend Andre Agassi feels that the Spaniard can overcome his illness to claim the title at Melbourne Park later this month.

“He [Rafa] came off dominating the year and he took a healthy break after the US Open, so he is going to be rested and confident”, stated Agassi. “[Roger] Federer also played fantastically at the end of the year. I think it’s a close race between these two players but Nadal has a bigger chance now”.

Agassi also feels that the best is yet to come from Nadal, claiming, “Nadal is not even at his prime yet, he is still getting better. Nothing Nadal does will surprise me anymore”.

Justine Henin returns to action after elbow injury

Justine Henin,former number # 1 player returns to competition in the Hopman Cup team event on Saturday.

Henin who last participated in mega event of Wimbledon in June said that her elbow will be assessed during the Australian Open, which starts on 17 January.

"There were concerns about the future of my career," the 28-year-old said.

"I hope I can build my condition by playing tournaments this year and hope to be really ready around June-July."

Wimbledon's Hosking wants to gain competitive edge this winter

Wimbledon rower Sophie Hosking has vowed not to give her rivals any advantage this winter as she prepares to qualify for the London Olympics.

“There are always people coming behind you, so you have to defend your position in the boat, but you also have to push yourself to be better,”(wimbleadon said)
“The world championships were disappointing, but they come around again pretty quickly, so there is a chance to put it right.

“This is only my second year in the event and I feel a lot more confident in what winbledon is doing"

Wimbledon Championship: Anderson to play SA Tennis available

At the 2011 SA Wimbledon Championship Tennis now available will be played at Montecasino in Johannesburg from 31 January to 6 February.

Feliciano Lopez is a champion 2010 of Spain, Kevin Anderson will be in the field for this R3.5-million tournament. Previous year Anderson left the tournament in 2008. However, the South African will return in 2011 in all likelihood as a seeded player.

Tournament Direction Ian Smith said, “It is very exciting for us to have Kevin back for next year’s tournament. The South African public love to support the local players and with his current form, Kevin is sure to give them something to shout about.

Smith said, “Considering that the Australian Open is played just before our tournament which makes top-20 players hard to acquire, I feel we’ve put together a most competitive and interesting field. I have little doubt we will be witnessing some remarkable tennis during the first week of February.”

The tournament will be played end of the weekend for 29 and 30 January and their torunament will be no charge for tennis fans to attend end those two days.

Philip Brook: Chairma of All England Club

Philip Brook, member of Wimbledon championship management committee since 1997. He is a captain of Cambridge University's tennis team.

Brook, 54 years old has been a member of All England Club and elected chairman of Wimbledon’s All England Club.

Tim Phillips had last chairman in the post after 11 years who retired.

The appointment was announced on Thursday and is effective instantly.

Wimbledon Championship Winner Jamie Murray Weds with Her Fiancée Alejandra Gutierrez

The family tried no to unveiled the wedding venue - but Andy, 23, Jamie and dad Willie, 55 had to dodge a scrum of waiting snappers by using the tradesmen's entrance to the Cromlix House Hotel in Kenbuck, Perthshire.

Roy Erskine exposed that "I don't think either of my grandsons will find the wedding too much of a trial.

FIT Fagan Herne Hill's Deron Fagan was eighth a personal best 37:37 at Lexus Croydon 10 km road race on Sunday won the Eritrean Mehretab Solomon (30:54). Kingston & Polytechnic Ron Taylor was ninth (37:57).
